Ms. Krish reviews Saigon & Statik Selektah's "All In A Day's Work"

Ask yourself which Saigon you know better: the mixtape lyricist rockin’ the Just Blaze beats, the actor who portrayed himself on HBO’s Entourage, or the shit-outta-luck rapper that keeps getting his album shelved and falling under (beef and) bad times. Fast forward to now, right through the HBO cameos, his widely-publicized tussle with Prodigy, his “retirement announcement” via MySpace, his record label drama, and his uneventful beef with Joe Budden, and you’ve got his most recent offering with producer Statik Selektah called All In A Day’s Work, which was created in 24 hours. Not exactly enough time to explore such an unusual pairing, but who can blame the man for wanting to put something, anything out to keep him relevant as Saigon - formerly known as illest underground MC.

Weekend Update

It sure is quiet around here after such a crazy weekend. The homie, Kazwell and Viet are shopping for a publicist and treated me out to Roscoes (and other goodies :)) during their brief visit from the Bay. I did my best to share my experience with them regarding PR and hopefully their $$ is well-spent. I've been a big follower of Kaz's music since Krush Ellington, especially because he's been part of the family since we were kids. It also was interesting rolling around with them in their kidnapper van, wondering if the neighbors thought we were feds, lol. Keep an eye out for his newest release coming soon!

As I mentioned in the previous post, my girl, Amanda Lopez was in town for her gallery opening at Imix Bookstore in Eagle Rock, so if you missed out on the opening, make sure you swing by Imix anyway - her flicks will be up for display until April 26.

She was gracious enough to think of me for her upcoming shoot for Female Sneaker Fiends, so I gussied up and played "model" for a good 45 minutes :) To tell you the truth, I've given up the majority of my sneaker game since I spent my entire "Back to School" allowance on a pair of Jordans in the 10th grade and made my poor mama cry. Since then, I've picked up a Vans addiction, a stiletto/bootie habit, but stlll have a couple Air Maxes and Adidas around to suffice her shoot. Though, NOTHING compared to mah girl Jazzy Rae, who came through stuntin' in her super-exclusive De La Soul Dunks that she proudly wore under her wedding dress a couple years back.

Jazzy and Alicia hung around to serve as photo assistants and EMT for my Marshmallow promo shoot, where Amanda and I played with fire to promote the first single of my upcoming album, "Marshmallow". It's droppin' in April, so keep your eyes peeled for the photo and the single!

And lastly, my oldest and dearest friend, Arlene, visited this weekend, taking a much-needed and all-too-quick vacay from NY. (Between her, my girl Elayne, and myself, we can cross-reference anyone claiming to be from Frisco between 1988-2006, so don't try it! LOL.) She got to spend time with my family, and I got to stay up all night updating her with the latest gossip. I'm happy to see her organizing with my kasamas from SF and will see her again when I head off to NY in two weeks.

So there's your weekend update! Enjoy the rest of the week folks :)

"True Story" A Vans Shoe Series by Amanda Lopez (3/28 Imix Bookstore)

If you're in SoCal this Saturday, come to IMIX Bookstore in Eagle Rock to celebrate "True Story" A Vans Shoe Series by Amanda Lopez. This Sacramento-bred lady has apprenticed under Estevan Oriol and had her photography featured in Rolling Stone, XXL, VIBE and my personal fave, for Mama Clothing.

I was lucky enough to work with her when I first moved to Los Angeles, where our two-woman tag team shot Tech N9ne, Clyde Carson, Estevan Oriol and Pacific Division. Not only is this talented lady a hustler for the sake of art and versed in traditional photography (you know, when folks actually used film)but she is our official family photographer! ;)

She also will be working with me, ahem, EyeASage on the Rocky Rivera album art so look out for that! Good luck with your gallery, sis, and knock 'em dead!

Ms. Krish Update!

You might have noticed a slowdown in production of GB, so I'll explain why. Somehow, I ended contributing to two additional blogs: The Smoking Section and upping my title to "Music Editor" of MISS Crew! So where does that leave you, my dears?

Well, as the people that follow me on Guerilla Busfare, you'll be getting all the exclusive behind-the-scenes stuff I do with interviews and, of course, a more intimate peek into the life of Ms. Krish aka EyeASage in the weeks to come! Lucky for you, these next couple weeks are going to be pretty exciting: I'm shooting a music video for "Marshmallow" and releasing the single in April, recording more tracks in SF for the upcoming "Rocky Rivera" LP out in early August, and flying out to NY again on business.

So I just wanted to thank all the folks that have been visiting me on a regular basis even though I've been sooo sooo busy, with a promise that this will be ground zero for all the cool stuff that's yet to come. Love y'all!

Consumption, Redefined.

Fashion photographer Massimo Gammacurta’s photos are clever and ingenious in their simplicity. His work is extraordinarily beautiful, and no matter what the subject, you can expect a level of sophistication that you rarely find anywhere else. His newest project is called “Sweet Fashion, Lick Your Way To Success,” where he’s borrowed some of the world’s most iconic luxury logos and made them into lolipops! Gammacurta released these during fashion week and made lollipops using the Chanel, Gucci, YSL and Louis Vuitton logos. The lollipops come in flavors such as watermelon, pomegranate, caramel, lilac, wild cherry and green apple. Talk about the ultimate luxury - these would be fleeting, yet utterly decadent treats!

I met Yuri Kochiyama over the weekend at the presentation of Tad Nakamura's "A Song For Ourselves" film in Little Tokyo. If Kochiyama's presence is any indication of how monumental this event was, then the Kogi BBQ Truck rollin' up was a distant second. ;)

Congratulations to our good friend, Tad Nakamura, for a successful and sterling event that bridged the gap culturally and generationally.
