In 2005, Wendy Maldonado smashed in her husband's skull with a hammer, while her 16-year-old son assisted with a hatchet. The documentary Every F—-ing Day of My Life explores what led the Maldonados to commit such gruesome acts.
The attacks on Wendy Maldonado were ferocious and brutal. Outside of what the children and neighbors describe, the Maldonado home was full of holes in the walls, holes by Aaron ramming his wife into surfaces and doors. When he was gone, she would cover the damage with pictures that the children drew.
When conversations of domestic violence surface, people tend to wonder why women don't just leave. But as is made clear in the above clip, Aaron Maldonado made it clear that if Wendy ever left, he would begin to kill her family members, one by one, until he found her or until she returned.
According to the resource guide included on the HBO site:
[Source: Jezebel/HBO]*On average more than three women a day are murdered by their husbands or boyfriends in the United States.
* Nearly one in four women in the United States reports experiencing violence by a current or former spouse or boyfriend at some point in her life.
* Women are much more likely than men to be victimized by a current or former intimate partner.

I watched this documentary the other day and I first want to say that Wendy and her sons, including Randy are in my prayers. It couldnt possibly have been an easy decision for them to make. Even on some of the home videos you could see the evil in his eyes. From the time when I was very young up until I was 15 I had been brutally beaten by my stepmother. Sometimes it would go on for days. I knew at some point I was going to snap. I could feel it. so I left home at an early age and never looked back. Maybe my situation was not as severe as Wendy and her sons but abuse is never a good thing. God bless you Wendy and your kids.
Damn. Thanks for sharing this story. But in a patriarchal society, they don't only question why we don't leave, they ask what we did to deserve it.
I truly hate hearing stories of domestic violence! It is all too common! I'll pass on this story but hope that everyone heals.

Nick,
Thank you for sharing your story and I'm glad you found a way out. As I get older, I realize how common it is, and how it affects the most innocent - children - forever.
Let's break the cycle.
