There's a New Yorker article that goes along with this. Apparently this experience gave him some crazy post traumatic stress. He won a court settlement but was never the same after wards and went all crazy.

Whoa. Really? I mean, I'm sure he'll be taking the stairs from now on, even to the 54th floor.
