Peace the F*ck Out 2008 - More Grind in '09

According to the Gregorian Calendar, Jan 1st is the day that we all emerge with a clean slate and a promise to ourself not to relapse into the same bad habits of yesteryear. Most of us fail. Some of the more determined, succeed. And the days tick into new chances to be better, more compassionate, more physically fit, and damn sure more prosperous. Hopefully we shake the monkey off our back, face reality, and see that bullshitting is NOT on the agenda for this year. Sure, it's fine to endlessly Twitter your life away while elsewhere, more important matters require your full-attention. You know, like your family, your friends back home, your kids, your life partner. But they're waiting for you to come back to earth and put some work behind your words.

This year, I'd like to be nicer. I don't want to be the obscenity-spewing road rager. Or the defensive ethnic girl with a neck snap. Or the tired girlfriend who won't let you hit it anymore. I want to live in the moment and be happy. It's more than just the goals ahead, it's the people around us. It's too easy to press restart and pretend that the challenges of '08 will cease to exist at the stroke of midnight. If this has been a challenging year for you as it has been for me, then we can only hope to be smarter about things this time around and never forget to check in with each other more often.

Here's to another year of serving the people and bringing out the best in each other. After all, we're all we got!

Much love to you all!
